The brass at La Liga outfit Getafe have come to a definitive decision on the potential signing of striker Patrick Bamford.

That’s according to market insider Matteo Moretto, who has confirmed that the two parties will not be joining forces for the remainder of the season.

The name of frontman Bamford had of course long emerged as a prominent one in the media headlines surrounding Getafe.

This came after word was forthcoming that the Azulones had opened negotiations with the Englishman and his entourage, over a potential contract for the campaign ahead.

Bamford is for his part currently available as a free agent, following the expiration of his deal with Leeds United earlier this summer.

On the lookout for reinforcements up top, Getafe in turn took the 32-year-old’s addition into real consideration.

As alluded to above, however, ultimately, head coach José Bordalás made the call not to proceed with the transfer.

As per a report from journalist Matteo Moretto:

‘José Bordalás definitively ruled out the option of signing Patrick Bamford. The striker was very close to joining Getafe, with only the final approval of the coach remaining.’
