Leon Goretzka made it clear that there were clear words in the dressing room: „At half-time, we got our heads washed properly and then went back to what makes us strong,“ explained the midfielder after the match.

For the 30-year-old, the match was further proof of how resilient the team can be. „I think you can have setbacks in life and you can fall behind in a soccer match, but it always depends on how you react,“ said Goretzka.

The midfielder emphasized the character of the team. Despite the weak first half and the clear deficit, Bayern did not give up. „Fortunately, we were able to prove again today that we have a very special team,“ Goretzka emphasized.

Jamal Musiala also saw the comeback as an important signal. The 22-year-old, who scored the equalizer to make it 3:3 after coming on as a substitute, referred to the team’s attitude despite the championship already being decided: „It’s a good point for all of us that we’re not letting our mentality slip despite the championship.“

Musiala made it clear that FC Bayern could have let the game run out, but that’s exactly what didn’t happen. „We could easily lose 3-0 and the game would go on. But the fact that we still have the hunger to turn the game around, to celebrate as if it was the championship, is a good feeling,“ explained the attacking player.

Looking ahead to the upcoming tasks, Musiala sees the energy from Mainz as an important factor. „We need this feeling and mentality for the coming weeks if we want to win even more,“ said the international.
