Gi Fernandes highlighted Corinthians’ preparation ahead of Monday’s Brasileirão Feminino quarter-final first leg at Cruzeiro, 19:15 at Arena Independência.
The tie is a rematch of last year’s final, which Corinthians won against the Minas side.
"It was a good week. We studied Cruzeiro a lot and we know they are very competitive. It is important for us to win to keep adding points in the competition, so that if we reach the finals we can play the second leg at our home," said full-back Gi Fernandes to Corinthians TV.
Under the competition’s rules, teams continue to accrue points during the knockouts, which can determine home advantage in later rounds. Last year that allowed Corinthians to edge ahead of Cruzeiro and secure the right to decide the final at Neo Química Arena.
In the 2025 final, the first leg finished 2-2. The Casa do Povo was packed for the return, where the Brabas sealed a seventh title with a narrow win thanks to Thaís Ferreira’s goal.
This season, Corinthians completed the first phase in second place with 38 points from 17 rounds, behind São Paulo on 41. Their record was 12 wins, two draws and three defeats.
