Gianni Infantino said FIFA received 150 million requests for 2026 World Cup tickets in 15 days, citing surging demand to defend prices criticised by supporters. Infantino, FIFA president since February 2016, made the remarks on Monday.

According to The National, he addressed the debate at the Global Sport Summit in Dubai, noting recent arguments over ticketing without engaging with the protests.

He said the early window drew around 10 million requests per day. The tournament runs from 11 June to 19 July across the United States, Canada and Mexico.

Infantino said the host nation tops request numbers, with Germany second and the United Kingdom third, adding that the figures underline the World Cup’s scale.

He added that demand could have filled the equivalent of 300 years of World Cups. He also announced that future FIFA The Best Awards ceremonies will be staged in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from 2026.
