Gianni Infantino has confirmed Donald Trump will be alongside him at the World Cup final and that they will hand over the trophy together.

“We will be together with the president to watch the final and to hand the trophy to the winners, of course. We will be together the entire time,” he told FOX News on Tuesday.

The final is on 19 July at 21:00.

Under FIFA protocol, the trophy remains on a plinth and is carried by a member of the winning team to the celebration podium.

It had already been broken by Trump at the 2025 Club World Cup, and the US president then stayed alongside Chelsea’s players as they celebrated their victory.

Infantino, 56, and Trump, 80, have grown increasingly close since December, when FIFA gave the US leader his first Peace Prize. The governing body said it had no comment beyond Infantino’s televised remarks.
