Giannis Konstantelias scored on his Borussia Dortmund debut, then suffered a serious knee injury during Saturday’s 2-0 Bundesliga win over Hamburg.
He was substituted in the 52nd minute. The club said in a statement on Sunday that he has torn the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out for several months.

The 23-year-old joined in mid August from PAOK for €26 million, despite protests from the Greek club’s supporters over his departure.
He was able to walk off, yet there was still concern over the injury before the diagnosis arrived.
He should miss the first part of the season and the league phase of the Champions League.
