Links in contention for top gong in Europe

South African international Gift Links has been nominated for the Danish Superliga Player of the Month award for November.

The 27-year-old wing-back has been in scintillating form for AGF, playing the full 90 minutes in five matches in the league last month.

Links' side drew with FC Midtyjlland, lost to Sonderjyske and registered huge wins over Silkeborg, reigning champions FC Copenhagen and Randers FC, respectively.

As a result, AGF sit at the top of the Danish Superliga standings after 18 matches played with 40 points amassed - four clear off second-placed FC Midtyjlland.

For the former Cape Town City man, he has so far featured in 20 matches across all competitions, chipping in with three goals and four assists.

Now, he is up against Aral Simsir of FC Midtyjlland and Viborg's Thomas Jorgensen for the top gong and will be keen to bag the accolade.

Despite impressing in the Scandinavian country, Links has been snubbed from the Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco later this month.

Hugo Broos is adamant the player is not at the level required to play for the national team, much to the frustration of his agent , who hit back at the Belgian mentor.
