Giggs urges Man United to keep ‘generational’ JJ Gabriel at the club

Ryan Giggs has urged Manchester United not to loan out ‘generational talent’ JJ Gabriel and keep the teenager around the first team.

Gabriel is regarded as one of English football’s brightest talents and was named Under-18 Premier League Player of the Season last season, aged just 15. He also became the youngest-ever winner of Manchester United’s Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year.

Gabriel spent time with the first team during pre-season and United great Giggs has hailed the academy star as a generational talent.

He urged the club to keep Gabriel around the first team and avoid the temptation to send him out on loan. Giggs told Rio Ferdinand Presents that Gabriel would benefit best from learning the demands and expectations at Old Trafford.

“In my view, JJ is sort of a generational talent”, Giggs said.

“He’s got to stay at Man United. There’s no point in going out on loan because he’s at the best place and he’d be dipping in and out of the first team. So that experience is invaluable.

“You know, not only the games and the training, but actually travelling with the team, seeing the expectation of Man United, you’re seeing all sort of, the focus is so huge on Manchester United. You need to get used to that”.
