Giovanni Carnevali hints Spalletti’s job is safe at Juventus | OneFootball

When you coach a top club like Juventus, keeping your job depends on the results you achieve, and Luciano Spalletti has to be fearing the sack after his team were beaten by Sassuolo over the weekend.

The Bianconeri have now secured just one point from their last two games, and the defeat to Sassuolo will hurt even more because a player they believed was not good enough scored the winner.

Juventus have questions to answer about how the team has performed so far, and usually the manager has to provide those answers. Spalletti could be at risk of losing his job if you ask the club’s frustrated supporters.

However, that might not be the case, or it might not happen as soon as some fans expect, and that has to do with Giovanni Carnevali, their new CEO.

The Old Lady has given him the responsibility of ensuring the team is in fine form, and he did his best to equip the squad during the summer. However, questions remain over whether he would consider making a change in the dugout if results continue to disappoint.

Carnevali has arrived at an important time for the club, with Juventus looking to improve their performances and results. The pressure on Spalletti is understandable, but the new CEO appears determined to give the manager an opportunity to build something.

Carnevali Backs Spalletti

Carnevali does not appear interested in making a quick change, with the Juventus chief stressing the importance of planning and stability. He believes constant changes in the dugout would prevent the club from building towards its objectives.

He said via Tuttomercatoweb:

“My spirit is not to change coaches frequently, I absolutely don’t think about it. Here we have to plan; if we change, we can’t build anything. We’ve put together a very good working group, with Spalletti, who is an extraordinary coach, one of the best there is.”

Carnevali’s comments should provide Spalletti with some relief after the defeat. While results must improve, the Juventus chief has made it clear that changing managers is not currently part of his plans.

That means Spalletti still has the backing of the club’s leadership, but he will need to repay that faith with better performances and results in the coming matches.
