The Girona B achieved a highly valuable victory at the Barça Atlètic field after winning by the minimum margin (0-1) in a hard-fought, intense match that was decided in the final stretch. The Girona reserve team managed to hold on and strike at the right moment to secure three very important points.
During the first half, the match was balanced with few opportunities. Barça Atlètic tried to control the game, but Girona B showed great defensive solidity and prevented the Blaugrana from finding clear spaces near the goal. The visitors, on the other hand, sought quick transitions and set-piece actions to create danger.
In the second half, the game followed the same script: territorial dominance by the home team but with a very organized Girona B. When it seemed the score would remain unchanged, the decisive play arrived. In the 74th minute, the referee awarded a penalty for handball in favor of the Girona team, and Garrido made no mistake from the penalty spot to put the visitors ahead.
The goal added even more excitement to the final stretch. Girona B had to multiply their efforts to defend the lead, and the match became more intense. In the 77th minute, Raúl received a red card, leaving the Girona team with ten players, which led to a final siege by Barça Atlètic. Even so, the red-and-white reserve team managed to hold on with order and sacrifice, with a great performance by Andreev in goal.
In added time, things became even more complicated for Girona with Badia's expulsion in the 94th minute. With nine players on the field, Girona B showed pride to defend the result until the final whistle.
With this victory, Girona B earns three hard-fought points in a demanding setting and demonstrates their competitive ability in highly challenging matches. Next Sunday, they will host Alcoyano in Vidreres (12:00h).
