Girona head coach Míchel has on Monday confirmed his hopes of landing not one, but two players from Barcelona ahead of next season.
The subject of developments between Catalan neighbours Girona and Barcelona has of course dominated the headlines over the course of the last 48 hours.
As much comes after the former put a serious dent in Barca’s Supercopa de España plans for next season.
Owing to a 4-2 triumph at the Estadi Montilivi, Girona have now leapfrogged Xavi’s side into 2nd in the La Liga table.
With the dust having now settled on matters on the pitch between the Catalan rivals, however, it has swiftly turned towards the same in the boardroom.
This comes after the aforementioned Míchel made public his desire to have two players on the books at the Camp Nou at his disposal for the 2024/25 campaign.
The pair in question? Eric García, and Oriol Romeu.
Defender García has of course spent the season to date on loan with Girona, shining en route to establishing himself as one of Spanish football’s standout stoppers.
Midfielder Romeu, meanwhile, departed the Montilivi for Barcelona last summer, but has since endured a tough time of things.
Speaking in an interview with RAC1, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, this week, Míchel was in turn drawn on the subject of both players’ futures.
And the Spanish tactician was not shy in confirming his hope that, when all is said and done, he will be able to call upon García and Romeu for next season:
“I am very clear, I would like Eric and Oriol Romeu to return to Girona. They would both be top signings and I would like them to return.”
