Girona could yet be afforded a major boost on the personnel front ahead of their return to action against Barcelona this weekend.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Yangel Herrera as the player closing on a return to the pitch.
Midfielder Herrera for his part suffered an injury setback in Girona’s final outing heading into the international break.
After the Venezuelan was forced into a premature departure from the Blanquivermells’ La Liga meeting with Sevilla, it was announced that:
‘Yangel Herrera suffers an injury to the left adductor and has not joined the squad with his national team.’
The initial assumption was that Yangel had been condemned to a spell of around three weeks on the sidelines as a result, ruling him out of contention to feature in Sunday’s Catalan Derby.
As alluded to above, though, if the latest word to have surfaced on Tuesday evening is anything to go by, then, in fact, the 26-year-old could yet play his part.
As per MD:
‘The Venezuelan has the clear objective of being fit for the match against FC Barcelona next Sunday, taking into account that his teammates need him to occupy the centre of the field.’
