Having wrapped up Champions League qualification earlier this month, Girona have already started planning for next season. Specifically, they are lining up players to add to Michel Sanchez’s squad, and at this stage, their leading target is Sparta Prague and Czechia defender Ladislav Krejci.
Girona have scouted Krejci on numerous occasions across the course of the season, and they are hoping to secure a deal as soon as possible. As per Relevo, they have already submitted an offer worth €10m, which would be a club-record deal, surpassing the €7m spent on Artem Dovbyk last summer.
The report states that intense negotiations between Girona and Sparta are ongoing, and a full agreement is not too far away. However, the Czech giants are asking for a higher fee: they want in the region of €13-14m instead.
Despite this, it seems likely that this deal will be concluded in the coming weeks. Krejci is attracted by the prospect of joining Girona, especially considering that if he does arrive, he’ll have the chance to play Champions League football next season.
