Girona surprised by Savio statements amid uncertain summer for Manchester City talent | OneFootball

Girona starlet Savio shocked Spain with his debut campaign in Catalonia, and has argument that he should be breakout player of the year. The 20-year-old is believed to have signed for Manchester City from Troyes, two City Football Group teams, but the Brazilian has opened the door to spending next season at Montilivi.

Els Blanc-i-Vermells will do what they can to retain their squad this summer, but with City not allowed to loan Girona players next season while the Catalans play in the Champions League, it is presumed that Savio cannot return to the club next year.

Yet speaking at the La Liga and Globe Soccer Awards night, Savio told MD expressed a desire to play under Michel Sanchez again.

“La Liga is not an easy competition, but my adaptation has been fantastic. Now the season has ended and I will sit down with Girona and my representative to find out if I will be able to play for the team during the next Champions League season.”

Whether he can or not seems uncertain, but Savio’s statements do perhaps explain that City are not intending on using Savio next season. The brilliant Brazilian reportedly will join the Premier League champions for €30m this summer, but the deal has not been confirmed by either club. What is certain is that Michel, Girona and La Liga fans alike would lament his exit from La Liga.
