Two leading members of the midfield ranks at Girona will play no part in the club’s upcoming meeting with Barcelona.

As part of the post-international break return to action in La Liga next weekend, Girona are set to play host to Hansi Flick’s Barca, in a Catalan derby clash.

The latter, of course, are fresh off a stellar opening to the campaign, which sees them sitting pretty atop the Spanish top-flight, with four wins from four.

Safe to say, then, that Girona will have their work cut out for them, in establishing themselves as the first side to take points away from their city neighbours.

In efforts towards as much, however, the Blanquivermells will be forced to make do without two important members of boss Míchel’s squad.

First comes Oriol Romeu, who, owing to the fear clause in the terms of his loan deal from Barcelona, means that the Spaniard is not eligible to feature against his parent club.

And a 2nd of Míchel’s engine room options will also be unavailable, in Yangel Herrera.

As per a report from Diario AS, Venezuelan international Herrera’s recent adductor strain has seen him ruled out for a period of around three weeks.

Youngster Jhon Solís, as a result, could well be in line to play a prominent role in the Girona midfield.
