Borussia Mönchengladbach are pressing on with plans to streamline their squad, with Joe Scally, Nathan Ngoumou and Tomas Cvancara among potential departures before the window shuts.

Sporting director Rouven Schröder said of Scally: “Something could definitely still happen there. His profile attracts attention,” he told Bild, which also reported a potential €7 million fee and that the American’s contract expires next summer.

Gladbach are wary of losing the 23-year-old for nothing next summer and view him as the most valuable of the trio in terms of potential income.

On Ngoumou, Schröder said: “Nathan will be training with another club abroad next week. He remains a sought-after player. At the same time, he’s difficult to reach after his long injury. That’s why we want to give him the opportunity to showcase his abilities.”

Head coach Eugen Polanski is believed to have enough players in midfield, so there is limited need for the 26-year-old at present.

Regarding Cvancara, Schröder noted there are “several clubs interested”. “However, one must also consider his long-term contract with us, which doesn’t necessarily fit the current market.” The Czech striker is under contract until 2028.

Schröder added: “I can’t imagine Tomas sitting in the stands with us in two months.” Any exits would hand Gladbach useful funds before the window closes.
