Glasgow City moved five points clear in the Park’s Motor Group Scottish Women’s Premier League, Hamilton Academical close the gap on Dundee United in the battle to avoid the relegation play-off.

SWPL 1

Kinga Kozak and Emily Whelan gave Glasgow City a two-goal advantage over Hibernian at half-time, Siobhan Hunter replying for the visitors.

Seventeen year-old Eilidh Austin hit all three goals for Hamilton in their victory at Motherwell, which saw them improve their chances of securing their status.

Dundee United were defeated despite twice leading at Spartans through Danni McGinley’s free-kick and a Georgie Robb effort. Katherine Smart got two for the home side, Robyn McCafferty and an own goal contributing to 4-2 result.

Partick Thistle held Hearts with a Demi Falconer equaliser after Jenny Smith put the hosts in front.

Aberdeen’s Hannah Stewart bagged a brace in the 5-1 defeat of Glasgow Women, Bailley Collins, Eilidh Shore and an own goal helping the Dons move seven points clear danger.

SWPL 2

Boroughmuir Thistle 2-1 St Johnstone East Fife 2-2 Stirling University Montrose 1-1 Gartcairn Queen’s Park 3-1 Kilmarnock

Gartcairn drew at champions Montrose to go four points clear in the promotion play-off spot, with nearest rivals St Johnstone losing at Boroughmuir Thistle who are now only a point behind them.

SWPL play-off finals

The 2022/23 SWPL play-off finals will be held at Broadwood Stadium on Sunday 4 June, broadcast live on BBC ALBA, with kick-off times of 12.10pm and 4.10pm.

The opening match will see the runners-up of the SWF Championship face the side finishing seventh in the SWPL 2 for a place in the latter next season. The runner-up of SWPL 2 will meet the side finishing eleventh in the SWPL 1 for a place in the top tier next term.
