American midfielder Emily Gray has joined Glasgow City on a deal which runs until the summer of 2027.
The 25-year-old arrives in Scotland from Utah Royals in her native United States, having spent the last two seasons on loan in Denmark with Odense Boldklub Q and then with Piteå IF in Sweden.
In quotes circulated to the media, Gray said: “It’s a great club with a lot of great history in this league.
“The team’s competing for trophies and when I spoke to Laura [Montgomery, club co-founder] and Leanne [Ross, head coach], it just made me want to come here – and of course, the city, I heard nothing but great things about the city itself too.
“It’s a really exciting opportunity for me.”
Gray made 24 appearances in Sweden last year, scoring six goals and contributed with five assists.
Her former clubs include North Carolina Courage, who selected her as the number three overall pick in the 2022 NWSL draft.
Her move will mean a reunion with her former collegiate team-mate Nicole Kozlova, who was also part of the Virginia Tech Hokies squad.
For her part, head coach Ross added: “Emily is a player we have admired for some time, so we are delighted to bring her to the club during this window.
“She is technically very good and will help bring an extra threat to our attacking play.
“After having an excellent season in a competitive league in Sweden, we look forward to seeing the impact she will have with us here at Glasgow City.”
Glasgow City are in action later on Saturday when they face Hibernian at 5.15pm in the Sky Sports Women’s Premier League Cup semi-final at Meadowbank.
They are currently on top of the ScottishPower Women’s Premier League.
