Oliver Glasner does not expect Crystal Palace to be overawed by the occasion in this weekend’s FA Cup final.
Crystal Palace take on Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday, bidding to win the first major trophy in the club’s history. The Eagles have impressed to reach the decider, thrashing Aston Villa in the semi-final at the same venue.
Glasner was asked ahead of the game what the atmosphere had been like in training. He said Palace are fully focused on the final, with no difference in their preparations.
“It feels like a normal game. There’s much more attention and interviews to do during the week, but our preparations have been more or less the same as for a Premier League game, like they were for the semi-final and quarter-final,” he said at his pre-match press conference.
“We focused on what we want to do tomorrow, we analysed Manchester City, but 90% we talked about us.
“We can influence what we want to do. The focus was on our game, and maybe having one or two small adjustments, because the players did very well in the last couple of weeks.
“We have a lot of confidence and are looking forward to the final.”
Glasner also delivered a positive update on his squad. He confirmed that Adam Wharton is available, with the midfielder having nursed an ankle issue of late.
“It’s positive news, everyone is fit. Adam [Wharton] trained the whole week and is available, and all the others are fit.
“There are some tough decisions to take – but good decisions to take.”
