Serge Gnabry has opened up on the possibility of extending his contract with Bayern Munich, which runs until 2026.
The 30-year-old has made a strong start to the season and continued his excellent form with a goal in Bayern’s 5–0 win over Hamburger SV on Saturday.
Asked about his contract situation and the prospect of a new deal, Gnabry told Sky after the game:
“It’s still a bit away. I’m focusing on continuing like this so that I have good arguments if it comes to that. That’s what I’m concentrating on, and I’m enjoying the phase we’re in. Everything else will come later. It’s not out of the question.”
Bayern sporting board member Max Eberl described Gnabry as an “incredibly important” player for the German champions.
“Serge is currently an incredibly important player for us. He produces exceptional performances in the center, where he can exploit his cleverness even more. How and when we hold talks, I’ll try to start behind closed doors,” he said.
