Brest enter the winter window with their goalkeeper debate unresolved, after Radoslaw Majecki lost his place to Grégory Coudert for the past four matches.
According to L'Équipe, Majecki arrived on loan from Monaco in the summer to replace Marco Bizot, who joined Aston Villa, but a run of errors, a two-match suspension for a red card and an injury saw him dropped.
Sporting director Grégory Lorenzi said there have been no discussions with Monaco about an early return. He stressed he was not there to put Majecki on trial, viewing the situation as primarily mental, and added that while Coudert is currently number one, the club are weighing up options. Any new keeper would have to be above both, which would require significant outlay, and he questioned whether that is the solution or simply a risk, calling the matter very delicate.
Beyond the goalkeeper issue, Brest are targeting one central attacking midfielder, someone who can operate behind the striker in the current 4-2-3-1, as Kamory Doumbia does now, or as a relay midfielder in a 4-3-3. The budget is limited.
Possible departures include Coulibaly and Le Cardinal, with interest noted from Strasbourg and from Italy and France’s top flight.
