Ajax beat Fortuna Sittard 4-1 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA to rise from fourth to third in the Eredivisie.

In the seventh minute, Jorthy Mokio rifled into the top corner from Kasper Dolberg's set-piece pass. Rayane Bounida then drilled in from the right (14.) after fine work by Mika Godts, before Godts himself thumped in from distance (24.). Josip Šutalo's own goal on the stroke of first half stoppage time (45.) gave Fortuna Sittard a lifeline.

Vitezslav Jaros preserved the cushion with a low stop to deny Kaj Sierhuis (78.) as the visitors pushed.

Godts sealed it with a late finish from Wout Weghorst's lay-off (81.). He is now on 12 league goals, second in Eredivisie scoring.

Godenzonen registered 20 attempts with eight on target. Fortuna Sittard produced eight attempts and worked the goalkeeper once.
