Göztepe beat Gençlerbirliği 2-0 at Eryaman Stadyumu as two VAR-confirmed penalties lifted them from sixth to fifth and ended a six-match winless run.
A Pedro Pereira handball led to the opener. VAR confirmed the spot kick and Novatus Dismas converted in the 39th minute.
After the restart, Filip Krastev forced a save from Ricardo Velho (54.). Moments later, Thalisson Kelven was penalised for handball, VAR confirmed it, and Malcom Bokele Mputu tucked away the second from the spot (68.).
Gençlerbirliği had plenty of the ball, posting 62.5% possession and 34 crosses, but failed to register a shot on target. Göztepe were more economical, finishing with nine attempts and three on target.
Next, Gençlerbirliği visit Başakşehir. Göztepe host Galatasaray.
