After the success of Vini Jr. and Rodrygo, the Spanish giants have their eyes on another promise in Brazilian football.
Current champions of the Champions League, Real Madrid are eyeing reinforcements for next season. It is clear that the team’s focus is on hiring young talent, as happened with Brazilians Vinicius Júnior and Rodrygo.
The latest acquisition to be confirmed is midfielder Aurelian Tchouaméni, a great prospect from France at just 22 years old. However, Real remain active in the market and are now eyeing another young Brazilian striker, who could be a merengue in the future.
Matheus Nascimento is a target for Real Madrid, according to journalist Samuel Pain. At 18 years old, the striker is a true gem of Botafogo and has been drawing the attention of European football giants.
The journalist even says that the Spanish club are considering making a proposal for the Brazilian. In 2022, he has 18 games played, with seven goals scored while recording one assist. Despite this, the striker has been successful since making his professional debut in 2020.
He was triggered in the tie between Botafogo and Corinthians, for the Brasileirão that year, and became the youngest player to play for Glorioso in the professionals. At that time, he was only 16 years old. Since then, he has frequently entered the starting lineup.
Matheus Nascimento is valued at 7 million euros by Transfermarkt, but his release clause is in the region of 50 million euros.
Currently, Matheus Nascimento is out of the Botafogo team, but for good reason. He was summoned to play with the shirt of the Brazilian National Team during the Under-20 International Tournament, held in Espírito Santo.
In the opening round, the promise showed why there is so much hype to his name. Matheus scored two goals and participated in the play of another in the 5-2 victory over Paraguay, at Kleber Andrade Stadium. His eye for goals has been known since the beginning of his career.
In the current national team, Matheus Nascimento is the most experienced player, with 34 calls-up and 25 games for the national team. He was part of the team that won the U-15 South American Championship in 2019, and is on the radar to play in the professionals in the future.
If indeed he is signed by Real Madrid, Matheus Nascimento would join some Brazilian stars at the Spanish club. During the just concluded Champions League title campaign, the Brazilians shone.
Vini Jr scored the title-winning goal against Liverpool, which secured the Merengues’ 14th European title. However, in the semifinals, Rodrygo performed a miracle and scored twice in stoppage time. The goals were instrumental in dispatching Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City.
In the squad, Real also have Casemiro and Marcelo, two legends of the club, and Éder Militão, who consolidated himself in the defensive system of Carlo Ancelotti. In other words, Brazilian companies will not be lacking to facilitate Matheus Nascimento’s adaptation process, if the transfer actually takes place.
