Rangers, under Michael Beale, have shown a massive resurgence in domestic competitions. Although they lost the League Cup title to Celtic, the Scottish Cup silverware remains a possibility following a routine 2-0 win against Raith Rovers. Allan McGregor: 7

The veteran Scotsman was hardly tested between the sticks. A comfortable clean sheet for him after three games.

James Tavernier: 8

Looked purposeful from the very beginning as he kept on causing menace with his overlapping runs and crosses. His cross led to Rangers’ second of the afternoon when Ryan Nolan found his own net.

Connor Goldson: 8.5

His towering header broke the deadlock late in the first half. Was solid in the heart of the backline as he contained the Rovers’ attack with calmness and composure. Was taken off for John Souttar midway through the second half.

Ben Davies: 7.5

Did well to partner with Goldson in deep defence. His sense of positioning, game-reading trait and ball-playing ability helped the Gers execute free-flowing football. Shook off a knock late in the game and completed the tie.

Borna Barisic: 8

Set it up perfectly for Goldson from a corner. Looked menacing from the left with his marauding runs, crosses, cut insides and passes into the final third. Got replaced by Ridvan Yilmaz who made his return from a long injury layoff.

Connor Goldson

John Lundstram: 6.5

A bit clumsy with his tackles, but the Englishman did well overall after a few shaky outings since returning from his injury.

Nicolas Raskin: 7

Worked hard in midfield to win the duels and control the tempo. Carried the ball forward from the deep to operate in the advanced areas of the pitch.

Fashion Sakala: 6.5

Has been in fine form of late. Played a few smart one-twos and made some dribbling attempts down the wide, but he failed to leave a significant impact before making way for Scott Arfield midway through the second half.

Todd Cantwell: 7.5

Still looking for his first Rangers goal. But the former Norwich City star did extremely well to set the goal up for Arfield in the closing minutes of the fixture.

Ryan Kent: 6.5

Lively down the left with his pace and directness. Should have done better with his finishing and final deliveries. Was replaced by Ianis Hagi late in the match.

Antonio Colak: 6.5

Scored a brace against Hibernian. But he could not make an impact this afternoon while spearheading the attack. Was taken off for Alfredo Morelos with 12 minutes remaining.

Enjoyed his time on the pitch with his relentless runs and goal-bound attempts.

Scott Arfield: 7.5

Found the net in the closing minutes after an exquisite move.
