Liverpool will face off against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light this Wednesday night as they look to secure a good result on the road in the Premier League. The Reds suffered a tough 2-1 loss at the hands of Manchester City, so they would be eager to bounce back by securing all three points in midweek.

Arne Slot will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation once again and is expected to make a couple of changes to his first team for this game. Both Joe Gomez and Curtis Jones could play from the start of this clash.

Defence

Alisson Becker will function in between the sticks for the Reds after he conceded two goals in his last appearance. Ibrahima Konate will feature alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they look to keep a solid shape when defending inside their half.

Joe Gomez will hope to impress as the right-back, while Milos Kerkez looks to put in a solid performance on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will have to perform their defensive duties before trying to offer some support to the front players.

Andy Robertson and Calvin Ramsey will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Curtis Jones and Ryan Gravenberch will anchor the midfield for the Merseyside club as they focus on winning the 50-50 battles in the middle of the park and engineer some clear-cut chances in the final third.

The gifted trio of Florian Wirtz, Alexis Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah could play just ahead of them as part of Liverpool’s attack. All three of them need to move the ball well if they want to create enough chances for the Reds to win this contest this Wednesday night.

Wataru Endo and Cody Gakpo will have to settle for a place on the bench and might come on to make an impact in the second 45 minutes if required.

Attack

Hugo Ekitike will lead the charge for the Merseyside outfit in the final third. He has to find a way to be a real menace up top.

Federico Chiesa will be available for selection on the bench as he waits for his chance to influence the game in the final quarter if needed.
