Gonzalez and Koopmeiners scorers in 2-0 Juventus win over Parma | OneFootball

Juventus beat Parma 2-0 in their second Serie A game of the season, thanks to goals from two substitutes.

Not many people were impressed with the win against Frosinone, so Juve had to play better in this game. However, inside the first ten minutes, the main action of note was the yellow card Jhon Lucumi received on his first start.

Juve were comfortable in possession, but they were not really threatening Parma until Francisco Conceicao hit the post after half an hour.

Juve came close to scoring, but they could not find the finishing touch, and at the break, the teams were level. The result would have frustrated the Bianconeri and their supporters in the stands.

Juventus finally break Parma resistance

After the break, Juve flew out of the blocks as they looked to score the first goal, but Parma remained solid, forcing Luciano Spalletti to make changes.

Kerim Alajbegovic and Nicolas Gonzalez came on for Jeremie Boga and Jonathan David, with Spalletti looking for a way to unlock the Parma defence.

It was a substitution that showed what the manager wanted to achieve, and it took Gonzalez just four minutes to draw a top save from the goalkeeper.

However, a minute later, he found the back of the net and opened the scoring for the Old Lady.

Substitutes seal Juventus victory

Juve opened the game up after that, and Guglielmo Vicario was soon required to make a stunning save before Randal Kolo Muani missed a clear one-on-one opportunity.

Andrea Cambiaso came on as a substitute, but he soon could not continue because of injury. His replacement, Teun Koopmeiners, then made an immediate impact by scoring the game’s second goal.

The late goal gave Juventus further breathing room and left Parma needing to find a way back into the match.

Parma tried to get one back, but Juve showed why they are the bigger team of the two and held on to win.

The result gives Juventus another three points and represents an improvement after their opening victory over Frosinone. Spalletti will be pleased that his substitutes made the difference, with Gonzalez and Koopmeiners both finding the net to secure the victory.

The win also gives Juventus a positive start to their home campaign, although Cambiaso’s injury will be a concern for the Bianconeri.
