Liverpool have made their move for Yankuba Minteh.
The Reds saw an opening offer of £50m rejected by Brighton and later a second worth £60m - but we can expect Richard Hughes to come back to the table.
Minteh, 22, has emerged as a priority wide forward target for the Anfield side - who are crying out for wingers following the loss of Mohamed Salah on a free transfer.
The Liverpool sporting director is also chasing a deal for Bradley Barcola - while links also exist with Real Madrid’s Endrick and Barcola’s Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ibrahim Mbaye.
Gambia international Minteh is believed to be keen on a deal to join Liverpool - with the Merseysiders having had him on their radar since 2024.
Back then Minteh had just starred on loan under Arne Slot at Feyenoord and transferred from parent club Newcastle to Brighton with the Magpies under significant financial strain.
Since then the left-footed attacker has established himself as a hard-working - if somewhat unproductive - wide forward at the Amex.
His ball-carrying abilities - allied with his workrate - mark him out as an ideal candidate to arrive. And Liverpool supporters can be optimistic of this deal eventually receiving a green light.
Because Brighton insider Andy Naylor is of the opinion that Minteh WILL end up making the move to Anfield as the deal is right in line with how the club operates.

“On transfers, Minteh (to Liverpool) and Baleba (to Man Utd) will probably both end up happening, as the offers (50m and around 60m) are not that far away from making sense,” he writes on X.
“Big profits again and moves to big clubs for players given game time + developed. That's the model.”
Minteh is currently injured having suffered a blow to his right leg during a preseason friendly against Roma. He required surgery and isn’t expected to be fit until around November.
So Liverpool have got over a week to go in order to wrap up a deal for Minteh and then put him through a recovery plan which would see Andoni Iraola have an extra winger at his disposal a couple of months into the season.
