FLW's Leicester City fan pundit shares their thoughts on Jordan Ayew's proposed move to Sheffield United

Leicester City suffered back-to-back relegations from the Premier League to League One, and as a result, have seen a mass exodus of players in the past couple of years, though some will be missed more than others.

Leicester's start to life in League One hasn't gone exactly as Foxes fans would have hoped, who, in the past five years, have seen their side lift the FA Cup and compete in Europe, but now see their side lose 4-0 at home to Oxford United.

Russell Martin was appointed over the summer and tasked with guiding the club back to the Championship at the first opportunity, and whilst it is still early days, there is already legitimate cause for concern.

One win from their opening five league games has the Foxes already seven points adrift of table-topping Sheffield Wednesday, as Martin will be hoping for time to gel his new-look side together.

Numerous big names departed the club over the summer, including the likes of Patson Daka, Ricardo Pereira, and Abdul Fatawu, and whilst some will be missed, others certainly won't.

Another player who left the King Power Stadium last summer was Ghanaian forward Jordan Ayew.

Ayew, 34, has over 300 Premier League appearances to his name, as well as a further 150 in the French top-flight, and having led the line for his nation at the recent World Cup in North America, boasts a wealth of experience and ability.

However, the veteran striker scored just 12 and assisted four in 80 appearances across all competitions during his time with the Foxes, with his departure one that those fans weren't particularly torn up about.

Alan Nixon reported via Patreon that Blackburn Rovers were keen on a deal to bring Ayew in on a free transfer, but Nixon has since reported that Sheffield United have joined the battle, with the Blades appearing to be in pole position for his signature.

Football League World's Leicester fan pundit, Jamie Preston, has shared their thoughts on Ayew's potential move to Sheffield United, and whether he would be a good addition for the Blades.

Jamie said: "[laughs] Jordan Ayew going to Sheffield United? They're going to love him up in Yorkshire.

"They like a player that fights and works hard and runs hard; that's not going to happen with Jordan Ayew. They like a striker that can score goals; that's not going to happen with Jordan Ayew.

"What is it with Sheffield United wanting our cast-offs with Choudhury and Tom Cannon? And now they want Jordan Ayew. If he was that good, he would have already been at a team. He's been playing in Ghana on park pitches with kids training.

"He's not going to do anything there. They're not going to like him at all at Sheffield United. So good riddance to him because he was absolutely awful with us. Good riddance."

Whilst Leicester struggle to get to grips with life in League One, the likelihood that any fan will be calling out for Ayew at any stage across the campaign is slim to none.

The Ghanaian is clearly a hugely talented player, but at 34, Leicester caught him towards the latter stages of his career, and his addition to the squad coincided with their back-to-back relegations.

Whether Ayew will have a better time at Sheffield United remains to be seen, though Leicester fan pundit Jamie certainly doesn't seem to think so.
