Ekstraklasa club Górnik Zabrze announced the acquisition of Finland international Richard Jensen on Wednesday. The 26-year-old joins the Trójkolorowi having left Dutch club Roda JC Kerkrade earlier this month.
Though representing Finland at every age group from under-17 upwards, Jensen has actually spent the last decade in the Netherlands. He joined Twente Enschede in 2012, and played 10 times for the senior team in the 2017/18 season, before moving on to Roda JC at the end of the campaign. In Kerkrade, he made 82 appearances in four years, and scored 7 times.
Jensen’s performances in the Eerste Divisie earned him a call-up to Markku Kanerva’s senior Finland squad for June’s UEFA Nations League matches. He made his debut at the heart of defence in the 2-0 home win over Montenegro, and went on to start in the away defeats against Romania and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
Jensen has agreed a one-year deal at Ulica Roosevelta, and will wear the number 3 shirt. He becomes the club’s fifth signing of the summer.
