Górnik Zabrze coach Bartosch Gaul further strengthened his squad on Tuesday, with the club announcing the acquisition of Swiss midfielder Robin Kamber. The 26-year-old joins the Trójkolorowi on a two-year deal from FC Stade Lausanne-Ouchy, with the option to extend for another season.

Górnik have been left light in midfield in recent weeks, with the loss of Bartosz Nowak to Raków Częstochowa. The signing of Kamber looks to address this issue.

Basel-born Kamber has had something of a journeyman career to date, with Górnik the TENTH club of his nine-year career. Starting in the youth setup of his hometown club, Kamber participated in the UEFA Youth League – even scoring a stoppage-time penalty in a 2-1 defeat to Chelsea. With game time for the senior team limited, he moved away: spells with FC Vaduz and Grasshoppers Zurich were interspersed with loan moves to Servette and FC Winterthur.

While 2020 saw unsuccessful spells in Croatia with Slaven Belupo, and back in his homeland at FC Schonenwerd, a return to the Swiss second tier at both FC Wil and finally Stade Lausanne-Ouchy have been much more productive.

Kamber is also a multiple-time Swiss Youth international, having represented his country at all levels between U15 and U20 between 2011 and 2016.

The midfielder should be eligible to make his Górnik debut in Friday’s away trip to Legia Warsaw.
