Gorrotxategi and Pacheco in contention for Real Sociedad opener | OneFootball

Jon Gorrotxategi and Jon Pacheco completed training on Tuesday, putting themselves in contention for Real Sociedad’s season opener against Betis at La Cartuja. According to Diario Vasco, Gonçalo Guedes will not feature after working individually, with Álvaro Odriozola also training alone.

The session came three days before the fixture. For Matarazzo, Gorrotxategi’s return is significant because he is the only specialist defensive midfielder and, having missed the entire pre-season, he could be limited to second-half minutes.

Pacheco is currently the only left-footed centre-back while the club await signings. His game time in friendlies was scarce, totalling 162 minutes across only three of the seven matches.

Six Sanse players trained with the first team, namely Fraga, Beitia, Lebarbier, Ibai Agirre, Marchal and Carrera. They are in the frame for the Betis squad.

Real Sociedad have two further sessions scheduled before their first match of the campaign, on Wednesday and Thursday.
