Gotham FC vs Washington Spirit: How to watch, time, more of Champions Cup meeting | OneFootball

This year’s group round of the CONCACAF W Champions Cup feels like it has been flying by, and NJ/NY Gotham FC will play their final game of the round.  So far, they have won all three of their matches, with the last win coming against Vancouver Rise FC Academy.  In addition, the team is unbeaten in their last nine games, which is a good thing as they head into the battle with the Washington Spirit.

In the NWSL, Gotham FC won on the road in D.C. and then the two teams shared the points in the home fixture.  This time, the two are not meeting at either of their home venues.  Rather, the Bats are hosting a special home game at Subaru Park, the home of the Philadelphia Union in Major League Soccer.  As such, the game will take place in Pennsylvania, and can easily be seen as a neutral location.  Whether there will be many fans there is yet to be seen as well.

However, the Bats proved they can compete with the Spirit.  As mentioned, they won the away fixture and had a dominant performance.  Then, more recently, the game ended in a 0-0 draw despite Geyse’s red card that forced the NJ/NY side to play down a player for 60 plus minutes.  With that in mind, Gotham knows what they need to do to win in the Champions Cup and should have the opportunity to do so.

More importantly, a win or a draw guarantees a spot in the knockout stage, which will take place in the spring.  A win means that the team will top the group, even though the other teams will have one more fixture to play.  And while Gotham FC has three wins, a loss means they will have to wait and see the outcome of C.F. Monterrey Femenil’s next two matches.  So, to make things easier, it would be best for the team to win.

Final Notes

The team has seen rotation between the Champions Cup and the NWSL.  However, since Gotham FC will be playing Washington, it might be a smart move to play the best Starting XI possible.
