FC Copenhagen goalkeeper Kamil Grabara has recalled signing for Liverpool as a teen.
Grabara left Anfield last summer to join the Danish giants.
He said, "I changed at the beginning of January 2016, just before I turned 17 years old. In the autumn of 2015, I was in the Polish U17 national team in a qualifying group for the European Championships, and we won the first two matches, but lost the last one to Spain. We should have lost 1-7, but I had an excellent match and we only lost 1-2.
"Then there was a lot of interest in me, but I did not notice much about it myself, because they went to my agent, but there were inquiries from Manchester United and Manchester City. And from Liverpool, where their goalkeeping coach, John Achterberg, was very interested in signing me without me first going to trial training or anything.
"So that's how it came about, and I went over there with my agent and my parents and signed after the medical check.
"Achterberg is still in Liverpool and is one of the goalkeeping coaches for the first team, and we still have a good relationship. I have great respect for him and will always be grateful to him, because if it had not been for him, my career would probably have gone a completely different path."
