Eric Ramsay's men were defeated 3-0 by Portsmouth last Saturday and now sit in the Championship relegation zone with 16 games remaining.

Grant has been a key figure for the Baggies over the years, while the Black Country outfit will have to navigate up to three months of their relegation battle without the forward's services.

West Brom are yet to win a game since Ramsay replaced Ryan Mason in the dugout, and will be vying for a victory when they face Stoke City this Saturday.

Grant was forced off through injury early on in the Baggies' 1-1 draw with Derby County on 23 January, and has since had surgery on his hamstring issue.

The 28-year-old posted on Instagram: "What doesn’t break you only makes you stronger! Surgery went well, thank God. Road to recovery, let's get it."

Diangana commented: "Speedy recovery, my brother."

Grant's update has also attracted support from the wider footballing world, with Aston Villa and England defender Ezri Konsa commenting with two red heart emojis.

Meanwhile, winger Diangana has scored one goal in 13 appearances for Spanish top-flight club Elche since leaving West Brom last summer.

Karlan Grant is a big miss for West Brom amid relegation battle despite recent form

Grant has scored just three goals in 23 Championship appearances for Albion this season, epitomising the Hawthorns side's poor campaign.

The former Charlton Athletic man has endured somewhat of a rollercoaster since joining West Brom from Huddersfield Town in 2020, and was sent on loan to Cardiff City for the 2023/24 season.

His first campaign with the Baggies was largely disastrous, as he scored just one goal in 21 Premier League appearances, which was a major contributing factor as to why his side were relegated.

However, Grant then went on to show just how dangerous he can be by scoring 18 goals and producing seven assists in the 2021/22 Championship campaign, which saw West Brom finish 10th.

Following his return from Cardiff, the forward went on to notch seven goals and two assists for the Baggies last term, as they finished just four points below the play-offs.

Grant's previous exploits in the final third, despite his lack of goals this season, suggest that he could have helped fire his side away from the relegation zone at the business end of the campaign.

West Brom have other quality attackers in their squad, such as Aune Heggebo, Mikey Johnston, and Isaac Price, but they have failed to win since beating Queens Park Rangers on 29 December, and deservedly sit in the relegation zone.

Meanwhile, Grant's rich experience, which includes stints in the Premier League with both the Baggies and Huddersfield, shows that he could have had what it takes to steer Ramsay's men away from trouble.
