Leeds United were beaten 4-0 by Arsenal at Elland Road. According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Graham Smyth delivered the player ratings from the game.
Leeds started well, and Ethan Ampadu went close with a fierce strike from the edge of the box that flew just over. Arsenal forced a string of corners, then led on 27 minutes when Martin Zubimendi glanced a powerful header in after a recycled corner.
United’s response was limited, and a Karl Darlow error made it 2-0 on 38 minutes, the keeper punching a delivery into his own net at the near post from another corner.
Leeds had a spell after the break, but on 69 minutes Gabriel Martinelli crossed from the right and Viktor Gyokeres got in front of Jayden Bogle to finish from close range. The fourth arrived on 86 minutes as substitute Gabriel Jesus rolled Pascal Struijk before drilling low into the bottom right corner.
Smyth scored Darlow 4, noting uncertainty in his six-yard area for the second and subpar kicking. Bogle 5, limited on the ball and caught out for the third. James Justin 6, defended adequately and was withdrawn at half-time. Joe Rodon 5, not chiefly at fault but unable to hold Arsenal off. Struijk 5, dominant in the air early but failed to stop the cross for the third and was then outmanoeuvred for the fourth. Gabi Gudmundsson 6, more advanced after the break yet largely penned back and beaten in the build-up to the opener.
