Liverpool will face off against Ipswich Town at Portman Road this Friday night as they look to secure their first win of this Premier League campaign. The Reds have begun this season with back-to-back 2-2 draws versus Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest respectively, so they will be desperate to earn maximum points this week.

Andoni Iraola will set his men up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and is expected to make one change to his first team for this game. Ryan Gravenberch could play from the start of this contest, while Alexis Mac Allister makes way for him and drops to the bench.

Defence

Alisson Becker will feature in goal for the Reds after conceding four goals in his last two outings. Jeremy Jacquet will continue to play alongside Virgil Van Dijk at the centre of the Liverpool backline as they focus on keeping a good shape on the defensive end of the field.

Jeremie Frimpong will try to prove his worth as the right-back, while Milos Kerkez looks to put in a good performance on the other side as the left-back. Both of them will be given the license to go forward and express themselves in the Ipswich half.

Kostas Tsimikas and Ronald Araujo will offer cover for the defensive positions on the bench.

Midfield

Dominik Szoboszlai and Ryan Gravenberch will anchor the midfield for the Reds as they look to establish their superiority over the opposition at the centre of the park.

The talented trio of Victor Munoz, Florian Wirtz and Cody Gakpo will operate just ahead of them as part of Iraola’s attack. All three of them need to combine well if they are to create enough chances for the Merseyside giants to win this contest at Portman Road this Friday night.

Liverpool’s new summer signing, Bradley Barcola, is expected to be named on the bench following his big move from Paris Saint-Germain. Alexis Mac Allister and Rio Ngumoha could also feature as substitutes for the Reds this week. All three of them could come on to make an impact in the second half if needed.

Alexander Isak will lead the charge for the Reds up top. He would be eager to find the back of the net after doing so against Nottingham last weekend.
