Jack Grealish will not form part of the Manchester City squad at this summer’s Club World Cup as the winger explores an exit from the Etihad.
Grealish is expected to move after falling out of favour under Pep Guardiola. The 29-year-old started just seven times in the Premier League last season and has failed to live up to expectations despite an abundance of team honours in his three seasons with the club.
The former British transfer record signing has scored just once in his last 30 league appearances for the Citizens.
Last month, Guardiola suggested a transfer for Grealish was possible with the winger ‘needing’ to play regular football.
“Of course, Jack has to play. He’s an unbelievable player that has to play football every three days. It didn’t happen this season and last season either. He needs to do it, with us or another place.
“It’s a question for Jack, his agent and the club. If he stays it will be fine and he will fight like he fought from day one to make a contribution, but not today.
“It’s nothing personal with Jack. I’m the person who fought for him to come here and the person who fought for him to stay here this season. I’m the one who said I want Jack Grealish. What happens in the future is a job for Txiki (Begiristain), Hugo (Viana) and the agents.”
The Telegraph are reporting that Grealish will not travel to the USA for the Club World Cup. He will instead explore his options in the transfer window, amid anticipated interest from clubs in England and wider Europe.
A loan move is an option, given Grealish’s lucrative contract in Manchester.
