Alex Greenwood says she can’t wait for England's meeting with Brazil at the Etihad Stadium.
The Lionesses host the South American nation at the Club’s home on Saturday 25 October, with kick-off scheduled for 17:30 (UK).
It represents Sarina Wiegman’s first outing since their euphoric UEFA Euro 2025 success in Switzerland where they beat Spain on penalties in the final to retain the major honour.
City defender Greenwood was a crucial part of that success alongside fellow Blues players Lauren Hemp, Grace Clinton and Khiara Keating.
And for our captain, playing for her nation in front of a bumper crowd at the Etihad will be a moment to savour.
“It’s going to be amazing, I really can’t wait,” Greenwood declared.
“To play a nation like Brazil as well, it’ll be a fantastic occasion. From a little personal note it’ll be really special, coming home in a sense and playing for your country in your club’s home.
“It’ll be really nice and I’m excited to see our fans who travel a lot for us, now they get to come to Manchester to watch us.
“It’ll be nice because it’ll be familiar faces and one I’ll hope to remember.”
England’s meeting with Brazil will see the reigning European champions lock horns with the 2025 Copa America winners after Arthur Elias’ side triumphed across South America this summer.
And although the fixture is an international friendly, Greenwood is anticipating a highly competitive encounter at the Etihad.
She added: “There’s probably no such thing as a friendly in those types of fixtures I suppose!
“I think it’ll be a case of two very different styles of football and two very competitive talented teams going head-to-head.
“It’ll prove to be a really good game for the spectators to watch and we hope as England that we win!”
