According to L'Équipe, Grégory Lorenzi will leave his sporting director post in the coming weeks after 10 years. Stade Brestois are at a crossroads and visit PSG on Sunday at 21:00.

They are winless in six, four defeats and two draws, their worst run since the failed 2022-23 start that cost Michel Der Zakarian his job.

Éric Roy has overseen three and a half intense, successful years, but doubts remain. After the 0-4 against Paris FC a week ago, he warned many players will not be around next season, with loanees leaving and others unsure, and said relying on sales would be worrying.

Loans end for Radoslaw Majecki, Monaco, Soumaïla Coulibaly, Strasbourg, Junior Diaz, Troyes, Junior Dina Ebimbe, Frankfurt, and Rémy Labeau Lascary, Lens. Left-back Daouda Guindo is out of contract. Ten players, seven regulars, are tied to 2027, including Grégoire Coudert, Noah Jauny, Brendan Chardonnet, Kenny Lala, Bradley Locko, Hugo Magnetti, Lucas Tousart, Romain Del Castillo, Mama Baldé and Ludovic Ajorque.

Brest must sell to buy as Champions League income is finite and TV rights are thin. President Denis Le Saint wants to protect equity, and Magnetti, vice-captain since 2017, will be granted a move.

Lorenzi set out the thirty-something dilemma, weighing Del Castillo’s value near two million euros against a younger replacement at about four million euros without resale certainty. The same logic applies to Ajorque.

Roy’s deal expires next year and he has hinted the decision may not be his if the project shifts after Lorenzi leaves.
