Grêmio beat Vitória 2-0 at the Arena in the seventh round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. Amuzu and Marlon were the standouts in the ratings.

According to Globo.com, Marlon excelled at full-back, shutting down advances and picking precise long passes, one releasing Amuzu, who was denied by goalkeeper Arcanjo.

Amuzu had two first-half efforts kept out by Arcanjo. The opener came when Balbuena’s pressure forced Camutanga to put into his own net, and after the break Amuzu showed composure to add the second.

Pavón impressed with aggressive pressing and combinations, while Viery was secure and dominant in the air at the back. Weverton made a firm save when Vitória threatened. Willian added drive and a dangerous shot, and Carlos Vinícius’ movement freed space for the wingers.

Leonel Pérez replaced Noriega and slipped an incisive pass to Amuzu between the lines, saved once more by Arcanjo. Late cameos from Tetê and Gabriel Mec went unrated, and Caio Paulista contributed during his brief outing. Head coach Luís Castro rotated smartly, preserved players and confirmed the three points.
