Grêmio have agreed an early termination with Willian, marking the 22nd departure from the squad this year. The deal was sealed last week, when the midfielder said his farewells and left Porto Alegre.
According to Gremistas.net, the club will pay about R$ 16.5 million in 20 instalments, running until April 2028.
Signed mid last year under former president Alberto Guerra, Willian agreed an 18-month contract through December 2026. The deal had a total cost of R$ 42 million.
His spell was mixed. He debuted in a Grenal win at Beira-Rio, then sustained an injury to the fifth metatarsal in his right foot, which sidelined him for much of the second half of 2025. This year he started with minutes but lost his place under Luís Castro because of physical issues, and after the Fluminense match he was informed he was out of the plans.
With the termination signed, Willian is seeking a new challenge, with a preference to return abroad, either MLS or Saudi Arabia. The overhaul under president Odorico Roman has involved rescissions, sales and loans since the first window and is continuing mid-year, with recent exits including Tiago Volpi to RB Bragantino, Rodrigo Ely to Almería and Edenilson to Botafogo.
