Grêmio announce signing of Caio Paulista on loan from Palmeiras

Grêmio have announced their first signing of 2026, bringing in left-back Caio Paulista on loan from Palmeiras for one season, with an option to buy.

The 27-year-old is already in Porto Alegre and joined the squad’s return on Friday afternoon at CT Luiz Carvalho, where he began medical tests.

Last year he spent the season on loan at Atlético-MG, making 36 appearances and providing one assist. He did not secure a regular starting place and the club chose not to activate the purchase option at the end of the deal.

Caio Paulista came through the youth systems of Ceará, Fluminense and Avaí, debuting professionally for the Santa Catarina club. He later featured for the first teams of Fluminense and São Paulo.

Palmeiras signed him in 2024 and his contract with the São Paulo side runs until the end of 2028.
