Grêmio have renewed academy centre-back Viery’s contract until the end of 2029.

According to Globo.com, the 21-year-old replaced a contract that ran to mid 2027 with new terms. The deal sets a R$ 64 million release clause for the Brazilian market and 50 million euros for abroad, roughly R$ 313 million at the current rate.

Botafogo had recently targeted Viery, but Grêmio rejected a loan offer with an option to buy worth around R$ 6 million.

A left-sided defender, Viery made his senior debut last year. He initially filled in at left-back at the start of the Gauchão.

He is likely to start on Wednesday against São José at the Arena in the second round of the Gauchão. Luís Castro is expected to change some positions to observe players and give chances.
