Tetê is preparing for his Grêmio debut after being presented on Monday, with the versatile attacker saying he feels ready to play. According to Globo.com, his first appearance is likely to be on Saturday against São Luiz at the Arena.
The club were working on his CBF registration on Tuesday. Luís Castro’s side face São José on Wednesday at 21:30 in their first 2026 match at the Arena, which will be behind closed doors. Even if his paperwork lands in time, he could be held back due to limited recent training.
Over the weekend he completed physical work in São Paulo and will join full training from Tuesday, having landed in Porto Alegre on Monday morning for his unveiling. He maintained fitness while at Panathinaikos, had around seven or eight days without training during the negotiations, and says he is ready when called upon.
Tetê describes himself as a right winger who likes to cut inside, though he is comfortable operating as a number 10 if required.
An academy graduate sold in 2019 without a senior appearance, he returns amid a rebuild after changes of board and head coach around the turn of 2025 to 2026. He primarily covers recent departures Alysson and Cristian Olivera.
Competition on the flank includes new signing José Enamorado, due to be presented on Tuesday afternoon, youngster Roger, who impressed in the opener against Avenida, and Pavon. His ability to work centrally gives Castro extra options, with the coach seeking a playmaker. Cristaldo started the Gauchão opener, Monsalve is injured, and Riquelme remains an alternative as the club continue to seek a creative addition.
