Grêmio goalkeeper Lucilene suffered a left ankle sprain late in the first half against Corinthians in the Brasileiro Feminino on Friday. She left Passo D'Areia by ambulance.

The club said in a statement on Saturday morning that tests showed a ligament injury with no fracture, and that she is already receiving treatment.

The incident followed a corner. After tracking a shot from outside the box, she landed awkwardly and twisted her ankle, with her cries of pain audible on the broadcast.

A flaw in the goalmouth turf was noted at half-time, which contributed to her loss of balance. Passo D'Areia has a synthetic surface and it was raining during the match.

Lucilene was taken on a stretcher to the ambulance without her foot being immobilised, then transported to hospital. At the time of the injury, Grêmio trailed 1-0.

Although the impact appeared lower, the footage recalled the injury suffered by left-back Marlon against Vitória at the Arena in March.
