Grêmio have made a fresh approach for Raphael Veiga as they step up the search for a playmaker after the Gre-Nal defeat. According to UOL Esporte, the response they received was that his priority is a move to América of Mexico.
Negotiations with América are advanced and have the player’s approval, though the operation is not concluded. Since talks with suitors began at the start of the year, Veiga has preferred a move abroad if his exit from Palmeiras is confirmed.
A creative midfielder has been identified as a leading need for Luis Castro in this window following assessments of the current squad.
Veiga is highly admired within Grêmio and has been viewed as a significant target since Odorico Roman took office as president last year.
He is under contract with Palmeiras until 2027. The América talks are structured as a loan, and the Mexican club are working to free a foreign-player slot before formalising any agreement.
Grêmio have recently added two players from Palmeiras, right-back Marcos Rocha and goalkeeper Weverton.
