Grêmio have set their sights on a holding midfielder and a playmaker after unveiling goalkeeper Weverton on Friday. According to Globo.com, the club have made four early 2026 signings but their business is not finished.

The target for the holding role is Argentine Guido Rodriguez at West Ham. Talks have not progressed since Grêmio’s offer, which remains below the English club’s valuation.

Costs are also hindering the search for a creator. Bitello of Dynamo Moscow and Raphael Veiga of Palmeiras have been sounded out, however discussions have not advanced. A deal to sign Bitello is around 20 million euros, R$ 124.6 million.

Luís Castro has directly requested a number 10. In the last match, against São José, the Portuguese used Willian centrally but acknowledged the role does not suit him.

Recruiting a goalkeeper was an aim of the new board since taking office on eight December. Concerns over the two options in the squad led the club to seek experience to fill the gap left by Marcelo Grohe’s 2019 departure.

Tetê and José Enamorado arrived as replacements for Alysson and Cristian Olivera, both right wingers. Caio Paulista was signed as back-up to Marlon, while Lucas Esteves is expected to have his departure to Mexican football confirmed soon.
