Grêmio receive Portland Timbers bid to loan Alexander Aravena, purchase option expected | OneFootball

According to Globo.com, Grêmio have received an offer from MLS side Portland Timbers for Alexander Aravena. The bid proposes a season-long loan, with a purchase option that should be included.

The 23-year-old Chilean has slipped down the pecking order this year and talks over his exit are expected to progress. Last year Grêmio also loaned midfielder Carballo to Portland Timbers.

Aravena has featured in only four matches this season. His sole start came in the Gauchão second-round defeat to São José. He joined in July 2024 and is under contract until the end of 2028.

Grêmio’s senior group numbers 31, plus six academy players promoted at the start of the year. The squad includes 14 foreign players, while CBF competitions permit only nine per match.

Since a change of leadership, 18 players have departed. The latest was Edenilson, who terminated his deal before signing for Botafogo. Coach Luís Castro aims to work with 27 players.
