Grêmio share first images of Marlon’s rehabilitation after serious ankle injury

Grêmio on Friday released the first images of Marlon’s return to CT Luiz Carvalho after the left-back fractured his right ankle against Vitória on 19 March.

According to Globo.com, he underwent ankle surgery last Friday at a hospital in Porto Alegre, one day after the injury. He fell on the joint in the second half and left the Arena by ambulance.

The footage shows Marlon on crutches greeting team-mates including Braithwaite, Amuzu and Villasanti, and wearing an orthopaedic boot to immobilise his foot.

He began physiotherapy on Thursday as the squad reconvened after the FIFA international break.

Grêmio’s official timeline puts his return at five months, from August, though behind the scenes there is hope he could come back sooner.
